Jenny Thompson's performances highlighted the first day of the FINA World Cup meet in Sydney's Olympic venue today. She won the 100m butterfly, in 57.02, only .12 seconds away from her recent world record of 56.90, set at College Station, Texas. About ten minutes later she won the 50m freestyle in 24.67, .11 seconds off her recent American record, also set in College Station.
