Longhorn 17-18 Boys Set Two National Age Group Relay Marks

AUSTIN, Texas, June 21. LOST amid the excitement surrounding superb individual performances by Ian Crocker, Brendan Hansen, Aaron Peirsol and Inky De Bruijn, were two national age group (NAG) relay records by the Longhorn Aquatics boys 17-18 freestyle relays.

The relay swims erased two NAG marks that dated back to 1988. The Longhorn went into the meet looking to break the records and were delighted with their achievements.

The same four boys swam on the two relay squads: Caleb McDermott, 17; Dnaiel Rohleder, 17; Michael Klueh, 17; and Garrett Weber-Gale, 18.

In the 400m free relay, the 'Horns clocked 3:26.15 to obliterate the old standard of 3:29.32 by Santa Clara. In the 800m free relay, the 'Horns smashed Pine Crest's standard of 7:38.51 when they touched in 7:32.18. The won both events.
