Jeff Commings Sets Masters World Record in 50m Breaststroke for Men 30-34

DENVER, May 5. JEFF Commings, representing the SQUID swim team in Denver, set a new Masters world record in the 30-34 age group in the 50 meter (short course) breaststroke. Jeff's record time was 28.91. The old record, 29.21, was set in 1996 by Dean Putterman.

The record time was part of a one-day meet hosted by Liquid Assets New England Swimming, a fairly new team in the Boston area, on May 1.

Jeff also owns a world record in the 25-29 100 meter (short course) IM (56.65) and USMS national records in the 100 yard breast (25-29 and 30-34) and 50-100 meter breast (25-29 short course meters).

Jeff was a nine-time All-American at the University of Texas from 1991 -1995. He is a former national age group record holder in the 15-16 and 17-18 100 meter (long course) breast, and the current Missouri state high school record holder in the 100 yard breat (54.78).
