By Phillip Whitten

EAST MEADOW, New York, March 26. IAN Crocker obliterated his own world record in the short course 100 meter butterfly this evening at the men's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in East Meadow, New York. It was the second time in six hours that the world champion had taken the world record to a new level.

The Unversity of Texas senior clocked 49.07 seconds for the event, shattering the global mark of 49.77 seconds he had established in prelims some six hours earlier. The previous mark was 50.02.

Crocker was ahead of world record pace the entire way, splitting 22.76 seconds for the first 50 meters.
