INDUSTRY NEWS: Arena Enters Into SwimSuit Challenge by Stating That Their PowerSkin is “Simply Fast” -- March 16, 2004
FOXBOROUGH, MA, March 16. THE genius Albert Einstein stated, "Things should be made as simple as possible, but not any simpler." "PowerSkin is simple and easy to understand", states Bill Bettencourt, President of Arena North America. "This is the lightest weight swimsuit fabric technology on the market! It absorbs almost no water and provides near 0% friction. All swimmers know water is heavy if you have to drag it for 500 yards! A swimmer does not have to be a physics major to understand this technology."
Claims made by Arena regarding their technology were reportedly supported last August by representatives of the Arizona State University Biomechanics Lab who presented their findings in a comparison study of all major body suits against conventional suits. PowerSkin outperformed the competition throughout the duration of the study.
Arena claims that the 100% woven PowerSkin fabric combined with a smooth design produces the most streamlined racing suit on the market today. The compressed custom fit allows the swimmer's strength and energy to be focused on the race and not lost due to muscle vibration. Arena has developed 8 silhouettes (5 male, 3 female) to respond to the demands of each stroke.
Arena will sponsor 20 National Federation teams at the Games this summer in Athens as well as many world-class athletes including Alexander Popov, 4-time Olympic Champion and 50M freestyle world record holder. According to Bettencourt, "There is a reason so many athletes and teams choose to compete in Arena Powerskin... Powerskin is the best technology to use for both sprint and distance events."
