Northwestern Ends Dual Meet Season With Win Over Iowa 186-157

IOWA CITY, Iowa, February 10, NORTHWESTERN defeated Iowa 186-157 in the final dual meet of the season. The Wildcats enjoyed another strong day of both individual and relay swimming. Northwestern won 13 of the meet 17 swimming events over the two day competition and diver Mike Oxman placed second in both the one-and-three-meter diving events.

NU's 400 medley relay team swam a 3:17.91, breaking the Iowa pool record. It was the 'Cats' third pool record of the weekend and 41st of the season.

Mark Hamming had an excellent out, swimming a personal-best in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:01.61. He also finished third in the 100 fly with a time of 48.32.

Freshman Matt Grevers won the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.55, while Ben Dexter and Shelby Clark finished third and fourth in the event, respectively.

Brian Davis continued his solid weekend by winning the 400 individual medley event with a time of 3:57.60 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:30.61. He claimed three first-place finishes on the weekend.

Tony Swanson won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:48.94 and finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 48.66.

Northwestern is off until the Big Ten Championships in two week in West Lafayette, Ind.
