UC Irvine Upsets UCLA To Win NorCal Water Polo Tournament -- October 21, 1998

STANFORD, CA - Dan Hayes scored four points to lead fourth-ranked UC Irvine to a 7-5 victory over second-ranked UCLA in the championship game of the NorCal Water Polo Tournament at deGuerre Pool.

Stanford head coach Dante Dettamanti earned his 600th career win (Occidental, UC Santa Barbara, Stanford) as the Cardinal beat Pacific, 9-7, to earn third place in the tournament. Layne Beaubien scored a career-high six points to lead Stanford to victory.
