Tulane Women Sweep Double Duals With Radford and Georgia Southern -- January 5, 2004

SARASOTA, Fla, January 5. THE Tulane University women's swim team won its second meet in as many days as the Green Wave squad swept a double-dual meet over Radford, 111-14, and Georgia Southern, 93-34, Sunday morning in the second and final day of their Florida spring swing.

Freshman freestyler Linda McEachrane won the 50 and 100 free with times of 25.06 and 54.78, respectively, and anchored the winning 4x100 free relay team as the Green Wave took home individual victories in 11 events. With the sweep of the Highlanders and Eagles, Tulane improves to 7-1 on the year in dual meet action.

McEachrane teamed with Katherine McCoy, Elizabeth Carey and Katie McGuire to win the 4x100 free relay with a time of 3:43.28, and the quartet of Amanda Williams, McEachrane, McGuire and McCoy also won the 200 medley relay with 1:53.56 on the clock.

Joining the relay teams in the winners' circle are fellow rookies Leslie Christian, Nicole Taheri, Monica Jones, Jessica Hughes and Taylor Emerson.

Christian won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:34.62, while Jessica Hughes was next at 10:41.96. Taheri claimed the 200 free title (2:00.53) and Emerson was right behind at 29.84. Williams won the 100 back while Jones, Hughes and Emerson won the 100 breast, 500 free and 50 butterfly, respectively.
