Utah Sweeps Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 20. THE University of Utah men’s and women’s swimming and diving team beat Florida Atlantic today. The men won big with a 165-67 score, while the women scored a 111.5 – 92.5 victory.

On the men’s side the Utah 400 medley relay team finished first with a time of 3:28.31. Cody Rempfer won two individual events, the 200 IM (1:52.56) along with the 200 butterfly (1:48.79). The men also saw Sterling Richards win both the one-meter and three-meter dive with scores of 274.8 and 247.5 respectively. Utah moves to 3-0 on the year with the win.

For the women, Amy Barefield won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.68. Meghan Demchuk won the 200 butterfly, finishing with a 2:07.00 time. Marissa Martin added a victory in the 200 backstroke as she finished with a time of 2:07.29. Utah also had a win in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:58.12. With the victory the Utes improve to 4-0 overall.

The Florida Atlantic Invitation included Clemson, Denver, Florida Atlantic and Utah. For the Utes the only meet that counts for their record is the head-to-head match up with FAU.
