Truman State Welcomes Five New Recruits to 2004-2005 Roster

KIRKSVILLE, Mo., November 25. THE three time defending NCAA Division II champion women's swim team will welcome five recruits to its team next fall, while the Bulldog men also picked up a swimmer for next year."We are excited about our early signees," head coach Colleen Murphy said. "We really have a great group of student-athletes that will help continue our success here at Truman."

Emily Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney)Backstroke/FreestyleGreenwood earned all-state honors in the 100-yard backstroke (3rd) and the 50 free (5th). Her 100 back time was under the standard for all-American consideration. Greenwood was also a USA Swimming sectional finalist in the backstroke events. In addition, she played softball and basketball."Emily fits perfectly at Truman and will continue to improve rapidly," Murphy indicated. "She is excited to focus solely on swimming and is an all-around great athlete who will have the opportunity to do good things in college. We are excited to have her as part of our program, and I know she will be a force in the backstroke for years to come."

Molly Polette (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette)Freestyle/Individual MedleyPolette was all-state in the 200 and 500 freestyles and placed second in both events as a junior. She is a USA Swimming sectional finalist and qualifier in multiple events. Polette also runs cross country. "Molly characterizes the Truman student-athlete perfectly," Murphy said. "She is an amazing student and a national level swimmer. Molly is a great addition to our team and will be an important contributor to our continued success at nationals."

Emily Pufall (Omaha, Neb./ Millard West)FreestylePufall is a high school all-American in the 50 and 100 freestyles and as part of her school's 200 medley relay. She is a USA Swimming national qualifier in the 50 free and a USA Swimming sectional finalist."When Emily visited Truman, it was evident that she was motivated and dedicated to success both athletically and academically and that she had found the perfect fit at Truman," Murphy boasted. "She is going to be an important part of our team and is excited to continue her career as a Bulldog. Emily is a true team player and will be another great addition to our squad. We have big plans for her over the next four years."

Stephanie Robinson(Highland Village, Texas/Edward S. Marcus)Distance FreestylerStephanie is a USAS sectional qualifier and finalist. She took ninth-place in the USAS southern sectional in the 1,500-meter freestyle this past summer. "Stephanie is a strong addition to our distance group," Murphy indicated. "She is a hard working and dedicated individual who fell in love with Truman on her visit and is excited about becoming a Bulldog. Stephanie is another in a great group of Texans we have here at Truman."

Angela Jones (Norfolk, Neb.)Sprint FreestylesJones earned all-state honors in the 50 (6th) and 100 (5th) freestyles. She played softball this past fall as well."Angela really helps us out in the sprint freestyle events," Murphy said. "She is another multi-sport athlete that is excited to commit to swimming full time. We expect her to blossom in college and be a great sprinter."

Chris Grigereit (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette)Individual Medley/Breaststroke/FreestyleChris earned all-state honors in the 200 IM (2nd) and the 100 breaststroke (3rd). He is also a USA Swimming sectional finalist in a variety events."Chris is an extremely versatile swimmer and will contribute in a lot of different events for us," Murphy indicated. "He is an excellent student who has big goals for himself both academically and athletically. We believe he will continue that success here at Truman."
