Westminster, Wooster Split

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa., Nov. 22. THE Westminster College men's and women's swimming team split a non-conference dual meet today at the Natatorium against the College of Wooster. The Titan men improved to a perfect 3-0 on the season with a 121-78 victory over the Scots. However, the Lady Titans (2-1) suffered their first defeat of the 2003-04 dual meet campaign with a 126-79 loss to the Wooster women.

Three Titan men captured a pair of individual events each against the Scots, with two of the three also swimming on a winning relay team. Sophomore Andy Hudak (Berea, OH/Berea H.S.) won both the 100 breaststroke (1:03.91) and 200 freestyle (1:51.77) while swimming a leg for the winning 200 medley relay team (1:42.80).

Freshman Ryan Trunk (Brookline, MA/Cheshire Academy H.S.) added wins in the 50 freestyle (23.22) and 100 freestyle (50.34) while anchoring the victorious 400 freestyle relay squad (3:26.02).

The other double-winner in individual events was sophomore Josh Hensler (South Park/South Park H.S.) in the 400 IM (4:19.65) and 200 butterfly (2:04.26).

The lone winner for the Lady Titans against Wooster was freshman Amy Wirtz (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley H.S.), who captured the 200 butterfly in 2:16.41.

The Westminster men's and women's swimming teams return to action at the College of Wooster Invitational in Wooster, Ohio, on Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 4-6, 2003.
