NCAA Div 1 Women: Florida Atlantic Defeats Miami, Turning the Tables of A 14-Year Rivalry

CORAL GABLES, Fla., October 31. THE Florida Atlantic University women's swim team defeated the University of Miami for the first time in coach Steve Eckelkamp's 14 years at FAU 162-126.

Highlights from the meet included an FAU sweep of the 100 and 200 Breast and the 200 Free Relay. FAU was down 26 points to begin with because FAU was without the benefit of diving in Coral Gables. Due to injuries and sickness, the FAU coaching staff needed to change the line up on the way to meet and even at the meet. Probably the sweetest part of victory for FAU was reserved for head coach Steve Eckelkamp, finally beating Miami. FAU has never beaten Miami on the women's side in his 14 years with the Owls.
