Ricky Berens Turns In Fast Swims At MAC Intrasquad -- October 21, 2003

CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 20. MECKLENBURG Aquatic Club held its Annual Senior Blue/Orange Intrasquad Meet over the weekend. Coming off a 7,000 yard pre-meet workout, 15 year-old Ricky Berens (2003-2004 USA National Junior Team member) had some impressive early season swims:

200 freestyle: 1:39.60 (splitting 49.33/50.27)
500 freestyle: 4:34.19 (splitting 2:17.41/2:16.78)
200 backstroke: 1:53.64 (splitting 57.07/56.57)
200 butterfly: 1:54.96
400IM: 4:02.93

Berens’ teammate, 16 year old Matt Patton, was second in both the 200 free and the 500 free with respective times of 1:44.93 and 4:40.83.
