Elizabeth Beisel Sets Seven 10 & Under National Age Group Records

BOSTON, September 22. TEN year-old Elizabeth Beisel (now just turned 11) of the Magnus Aquatic Group in Southeastern Massachusetts, set three National Short Course Age Group and 4 National Long Course Age Group records during a three week period last summer.

She is coached by Carl Cederquist and swims under the direction of Head Coach Paul Mangili.

Early in the summer, Elizabeth broke the NAG 10 & under record in the 100 yard backstroke (1:01.69), the 200 yard IM (2:15.51), and the 500 yard freestyle (5:20.03). Three weeks later she went on to the New England Championships and set records in the 200 meter freestyle (2:16.37), the 400 meter freestyle (4:42.40), the 100 meter backstroke (1:09.96), and the 200 meter IM (2:31.26).

Even more remarkably, Elizabeth also swam events and times that are not recognized as 10 & under NAG records. She swam the 200 meter back (2:26.18), the 800 meter freestyle (9:46.91), the 1500 meter freestyle (18:35.52), and the 400 meter IM (5:19.41). The 200 meter back and the 400 meter IM swims qualified Elizabeth for the Eastern Zone sectionals and her 200 meter backstroke time is less than 2-tenths of a second off the Junior National standard!
