Hall's "B" Sample Is Also Positive -- July 27, 1998

PHOENIX, AZ - Gary Hall Jr.'s "B" urine sample also tested positive for marijuana. Hall, 23, was provisionally suspended earlier this month by FINA, which said he tested positive for marijuana during a May 15 competition in Phoenix.

A formal hearing has been filed. An objection has also been filed to FINA, in response to their contention that the positive test represents a second offense.

Such a ruling could result in a suspension of up to 2 years. Hall tested positive for marijuana at the 1996 Olympics. FINA added marijuana to its banned list just before the 1996 Olympic Games, but the rule did not take effect until after the competition.
