U.S. Tops Medals Table at Pan Ams -- August 23, 2003

SANTO DOMINGO, August 22. AS expected, the United States topped all teams in the medal count at the recent Pan American Games in Santo Domingo.

Team USA amassed 21 of a possible 32 gold medals. Added to 17 silver and eight bronze medals, the USA won 46 in all.

Brazil followed with 21 medals: 3 gold, six silver, 12 bronze. Canada, Argentina and Trinidad (read, George Bovell) rounded out the top five nations.
