Brown University Adds Women's Water Polo: NCAA Tournament Imminent -- June 27, 1998

Brown University announced the addition of women's varsity water polo, bringing the total number of women's varsity programs to 39. This leaves women's water polo one institution short of 40 sponsoring schools - the magic number required for the establishment of an NCAA Championship. Women's water polo has been recognized as the nation's fastest growing "emerging sport" and an NCAA Championship looks assured for 2000.
