By Phillip Whitten

BEIJING, June 24. THE Chinese Swimming Association (CSA) today announced its team for the World Championships, to be held in Barcelona next month.

The 32-person team -- 18 women and 14 men -- includes an intriguing mix of veterans and youngsters. Two hundred meter breaststroke world record-holder Qi Hui heads the list, along with Olympians Luo Xuejuan (breast) and Chen Hua (distance free). Among the other top women are Cheng Jiaru (backstroke), Luo Nan (breast), Xu Yanwei (free sprins and fly), Yang Yu (free) and Zhu Yingwen (fly).

Veterans Jin Hao (sprint free), Ouyang Kunpeng (backstroke) and Zeng Qiliang (breaststroke) head up the men's team.

Among the most intriguing new faces to watch will be Zhang Tianyi and Wu Peng. As a 12 year-old this past winter, Zhang swam short course timews of 2:27 for 200m breaststroke and 4:35 for 400 IM. Wu, 16, is China's answer to Michael Phelps. He has already proven himself in international competition and is a medal threat in the 200 fly and 400 IM.
