Water Polo: Positive Drug Test Disqualifies Brazilian Women -- June 16, 1998

The FINA Doping Panel decided on April 25, 1998, that Daniela Raddi of Brazil shall be suspended from competing in any national or international competition for a period of one (1) year beginning on January 14, 1998 for the use of amphetamine and hydrochlorothiazide detected during doping control conducted on January 14, 1998 at the 1998 World Championships in Perth.

The Panel also disqualified the Brazilian Women's Water Polo Team from the World Championships. Brazil's team finished tenth out of 12 teams at the championships. The United States women played to a 7-7 tie against Brazil.
