Foschi Awarded $92,000 -- June 15, 1998

Swimming World has learned that distance ace Jessica Foschi was awarded $92,000 by United States Swimming in July 1996 "to help offset a portion of Jessica's costs defending her right to compete and reputation..." At the 1995 USS Summer Nationals, Foschi, then 15, tested positive for mesterolone, a steroid that is not performance-enhancing. Foschi claimed she was sabotaged, and eventually the CAS ruled in her favor, directing FINA to pay her 15,000 Swiss francs.
