Cardinal Swimming Gets Commitment from Shaun Phillips

Stanford, Calif., April 22. THE Stanford men's swimming team has received a commitment from Shaun Phillips (Spring Hill, TN) to study and compete on The Farm in 2003-04 announced head swimming coach Skip Kenney.

Phillips, who attends Gateway Christian High School, is considered one of the nation's top high school swimmers in the 500 and 1650 freestyle as well as the 400 IM. He was the 2003 Tennessee High School State Champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. His time in the 200 free set a new state high school record.

Phillips also competed at the 2000 Olympic Trials and U.S. National Championships.

A member of the Nashville Aquatic Club, Phillips is coached by Coach John Morse.

John Morse had this to say about Shaun: "He is a great kid, very consistent in workout, has a work ethic second to none, extremely fun to coach."
