Eight Events Cut from Pan Ams -- April 11, 2003

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 10. THE Pan American Games Organization (ODEPA) has decided to eliminate eight events on the swimming schedule of the next Pan American Games which are to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, August 1-17.

The following events have been cut: 50 meter backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly (both male and female), the men's 800 meter freestyle, and the women's 1500 meter freestyle.
