NCAA Div. I Men: Princeton Sinks Navy, 206-80

ANNAPOLIS, Md., February 8. SENIOR Jesse Gage won three races and junior Steve Flemming won a pair as Coach Rob Orr's defending Eastern Intercollegiate champ Princeton sank Navy's Midshipmen, 206-80, here this afternoon.

The Tigers won 12 events on the day and cruised and remain unbeaten on the season.

Gage won the 100 meter (sc) butterfly (55.77), 50 freestyle (23.15) and 100 freestyle (50.72) to lead the Tigers on the day. Flemming posted his wins in the 100- and 200m backstrokes with times of 58.04 and 2:02.88.

Senior Paul Cremer won the 1500 freestyle (16:02.79) while juniors Juan Valdivieso (200 butterfly) and Chester Yarbrough (400 IM) each captured wins for the Princeton upperclassmen. Junior Kent DeMond, won the platform diving event with 327 points.

Sophomores Justin Chiles (200 freestyle) and Jeremy Tillman (100 breaststroke) both won events and freshman Brian Shue captured the 400-yard freestyle for the Tigers.

Princeton improves to 8-0 with the win and returns to De Nunzio Pool Friday, Feb. 14 for its final home-meet of the season. The Tigers will face Columbia at 4 PM EST.
