NCAA Div. III Women: Randolph-Macon College Beats Randolph-Macon Women’s College, 59-34

LYNCHBURG, Virginia, Nov. 14. IN a Division III showdown between the Randy-Mac's, the women's team from Randolph-Macon College (Ashland, Va.) defeated host Randolph-Macon Women's College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action in Lynchburg, Virginia. The score was 59-34.

R-MC freshman Erin Ewalt established a new ODAC record and attained an NCAA Division III "B" qualifying time in winning the 400 Individual Medley in 4:41.91. The former ODAC record of 4:43.68 was set by Washington & Lee's Blair Huffman on February 23, 2002. Ewalt also won the 100 back in 1:01.69.

Other individual winners for the Yellow Jackets included Kimberly Leedom in the 1000 free (11:48.79), Elizabeth Belch in the 200 and 500 free (2:06.37 and 5:40.63), and Tiffany Pearsall in the 50 free (25.73) and 100 free (54.07, a new R-MC school record).

The 200 medley relay team of Ewalt, Sara Hirsch, Amanda Fridley, and Pam Zbrzeznj took first in 2:07.75.

For R-MWC, junior Lourdes Cuellar won both the 100 fly (1:02.14) and the 100 breast (1:15.79). The Wildcats' relay team of Jessica Ware, Kat Arnold, Veronika Redmann, and Cuellar won the 200 free relay (1:53.46).

Randolph-Macon College, in its fourth season of competition, improved to 4-0 on the season. Randolph-Macon Women's College is now 1-2.
