Angela Duckworth’s 400m Free Is Top Swim on Day One of Arizona Age Group Champs

PHOENIX, July 18. ELEVEN year-old Angela Duckworth, Scottsdale Aquatic Club, won the 400 meter freestyle for girls 11-12 in 4:42.25 to highlight the first day of competition at the Arizona Age Group Long Course State Championships. The meet is being held at the Phoenix Swim Club. Emily Barton, Sun Devil Aquatics, wsas second in 4:45.32.

Jackie Puschak, 13, swimming unattached, took the girls 13-14 800m free in 9:12.47, beating another unattached 13 year-old, Emilie Gratton, whose 9:15.32 was 32 seconds faster than her previous best. Puschak dropped 24 seconds.

Tyler Pennington, Scottsdale AC, took the boys 11-12 400m free in 4:50.90, his first time under five minutes.

Nathan Telep, Arizona Marlins, breezed to an 11-sedcond victory in the 800m freestyle for boys 13-14, clocking 8:59.50.
