Wilder Sets Two Masters World Records at Georgia Meet

ATHENS, Georgia, June 7. HUGH Wilder ran wild last Saturday, June 1, at the Classic City Masters Meet held in Athens, Georgia, setting two Masters long course world records.

Competing in the men's 55-59 age group, Wilder, of Palmetto Masters (Charleston, South Carolina) split a blistering 32.39 on his way to a 1:07.81 swim in the 100 meter backstroke. His time hacked well over a second from the old mark of 1:09.27 held by Tim Birnie of The Olympic Club (San Francisco).

He then lowered Birnie's 50 meter backstroke standard
of 31.52 with a 31.17 second effort.
