Texas Women’s Swimming Signs 2 Recruits

From Penny Abrahams of UT – AUSTIN, TEXAS – Westlake High School senior Megan Gettel of Austin, Texas, and Sarah Allen, of Chapel Hill, N.C., have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Texas beginning with the 1998-99 school year, as announced by Texas women’s head swim coach Jill Sterkel on Friday.

Gettel is a member of Texas Aquatics and specializes in backstroke. She also has achieved her senior national cuts in the 200m backstroke.

Allen, a student at East Chapel Hill High School, is the North Carolina state record-holder in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.45), and holds high school region records in the 100-yard butterfly (57.13) and 100-yard backstroke (1:00.03).
