On Thursday, the University of Southern California swimmer successfully defended his 200-meter backstroke title here at the U.S. Open Swimming Championships. And he did it without slowing his training down at all.

Krayzelburg and Trojan teammate Brad Bridgewater are training 15,000 meters a day in preparation for the world swimming championships in Australia next month. For the U.S. Open, the duo arrived unrested and sore but ahead of the field, finishing 1-2 in the event. Krayzelburg raced to victory in 1:59.20, a new meet record and right on pace for the world championships where he had planned to be.
