Roger Von Jouanne Sets U.S. Masters Record in 200 yds. Fly for Men 40-44

AUBURN, Alabama, Feb. 25. MORE than 20 years ago, Southern Illinois University's Roger Von Jouanne decided it was time to hang up his suit. He had had an impressive career — one that included a U.S. national record in the 200 yard fly.

For two decades, Roger remained dry. But the lure of the 25-yard jungle was too great to ignore and last week, Roger came out of retirement and made his first appearance in a Masters meet.

He made quite a splash! Swimming in the men's 40-44 age group at a Masters meet at Auburn University on Feb. 16-17, Von Jouanne stroked the 200 yard individual medley in 1:56.29. His time broke Jim Sorensen's USMS national standard of 1:58.07 from 1999.
