Roger Von Jouanne Sets U.S. Masters Record in 200 yds. Fly for Men 40-44 -- February 25, 2002

AUBURN, Alabama, Feb. 25. MORE than 20 years ago, Southern Illinois University's Roger Von Jouanne decided it was time to hang up his suit. He had had an impressive career -- one that included a U.S. national record in the 200 yard fly.

For two decades, Roger remained dry. But the lure of the 25-yard jungle was too great to ignore and last week, Roger came out of retirement and made his first appearance in a Masters meet.

He made quite a splash! Swimming in the men's 40-44 age group at a Masters meet at Auburn University on Feb. 16-17, Von Jouanne stroked the 200 yard individual medley in 1:56.29. His time broke Jim Sorensen's USMS national standard of 1:58.07 from 1999.
