2013lcnationals David Plummer

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 28. MINNETONKA'S David Plummer talks about coming back from not making the Olympic team to gain a spot on the US World Championship team in the 50 backstroke -- and set the US Open record -- at the 2013 USA Swimming nationals.

Men's 50 Backstroke recap: Plummer put up the third straight record of the night, tracking down the U.S. Open record in the men's 50-meter backstroke. The 27-year-old veteran popped a scorching time of 24.52. That swim bettered the previous U.S. Open record of 24.71 set by Indiana's Ben Hesen at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials as part of a time trial. The time is also a world best, clearing the 24.61 set by Jeremy Stravius at the French Nationals earlier this year.
