Bomb Found on Sydney's Public Transport System -- November 3, 1997
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - A firebomb was left aboard a passenger ferry, the fifth bomb scare on public transport in less than a year in the city that will be the host of the 2000 Olympic Games. The bomb was discovered after a packed 1,100-seat ferry had made an afternoon run Sunday from Manly, a popular Sydney beach. Police said burned wires indicated the bomb's detonation system had been triggered and they were mystified as to why it had not gone off. Police said the bomb was made from over-the-counter materials.
