Ed Moses’ World Record Splits

By Phil Whitten

IT was no accident that Curl-Burke's Ed Moses set out-of-this-galaxy world records in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke events at the World Cup last week.

Moses was going for broke in both events right from the start.

In his 100 breast, where he clocked a time of 57.47, he split 27.05 – 30.42.

In the 200, where he wound up in 2:03.17, he split
58.77 – 1:04.40.

To put that first 100 of the 200 in perspective: only two other men (Roman Sloudnov and Oleg Lisogor) have ever gone faster for 100 meters!
