FINA Under Pressure? -- September 18, 1997

SYDNEY, Australia - FINA is under pressure to halve strict doping bans because the bans are being undermined by European courts, said Terry Gathercole (President of Australian Swimming). Gathercole said FINA was thinking about reducing suspensions for anabolic steroid users from four years to two -- a move Australian Swimming opposed. Members will vote on the issue at the 1998 FINA Congress.
