Bradley Swim Team to Fight Cut, Needs lawyer

PHOENIX, Nov. 26. MEMBERS of the Bradley University swim team, alumni and parents are organizing to fight a decision by the university to cut its swim team.

University officials cited "financial reasons" for the decision, a statement that one angry parent branded flatly as "untrue." Bradley reportedly spends about $150,000 a year on its men's and women's teams combined, a drop in the school's athletic budget. S

If Bradley drops swimming, the school will field the minimum number of teams necessary to remain in Division I.

The students, alumni and parents are planning on mounting alegal challenge to Bradley's decision. What they need is an Illinois lawyer willing to donate his or her time pro bono. Swimming World's legal defense team will assist in preparing the relevant case law.
