BEIJING, Nov. 21. FIVE athletes were expelled from the China's National Games, which are being held in the city of Guandong, after testing positive for illegal performance-enhancing substances, according to a local newspaper today.

The meet organizers kicked the athletes out of the rest of the competition and annulled their results. Among the five were swimmer Zeng Hui and runners Zhao Qingbao, Song Yang and Lan Lixin. Lan is coached by Ma Junren, the famous track coach who claimed his athletes' superb performances were due to exotic drinks and foods he concocted.
