Texas Women, Aggie Men Win Big 12 Relays -- October 19, 2001

COLUMBIA, Mo., Oct. 19. THE University of Texas women's swimming and diving team took top honors, while the men's team finished second, in their
respective competitions at the Big 12 Relays on Friday, Oct. 19, at the University Natatorium in Columbia, Mo.
The Longhorn women's squad won 17 of 18 events and tallied 124 points en route to their victory. They were followed by Missouri (77), Kansas (65), Texas A&M
(64) and Iowa State (46).
Texas A&M scored 104 points to barely edge the two-time defending NCAA champion UT men's team, which scored a second-place 100 points. Missouri came in third (70) and Southern Illinois trailed in fourth (65).
Junior Tanica Jamison (Dublin, Calif.) led the women's swimming squad, participating in six winning relays. Senior Kelley Robins (Houston, Texas), junior transfer Joscelin Yeo (Republic of Singapore/California) and freshman Sarah Wanazek (Brookfield, Wis.) each competed on five winning relays, while sophomore transfer Lacey Elliot (El Paso, Texas/SMU) contributed on four winning teams.
For the UT men, junior Chris Kemp (Southlake, Texas) and sophomore Tony Diers (Houston, Texas) both took part in four winning relays, while senior Ryan Ciccarelli (Plainsboro, N.J.) and freshman Rainer
Kendrick (Birmingham, Ala.) both helped in three top finishes.
The Texas women's divers also played a significant part in the team victory, taking first-place in the Relay 1 division with 400.8 points and the Relay 2 division with 114.50 points.
Both the Texas men's and women's swimming and diving teams are the defending Big 12 Conference Swimming and Diving champions, as the men won their 22nd consecutive conference title in 2001 and the women
took their third consecutive title last season.
The Texas women's swimming and diving team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 26, when it travels to take on Stanford. The men's squad next competes on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 26-27, against Southern California and California.
