Canada Summer Open Championships: Sparse Nationals Come to Close

POINTE-CLAIRE, Canada, July 24. WITH the bulk of the top swimmers in Canada swimming at the FINA World Long Course Championships, the Canadian Summer Open Championships came to a close.

Paige Schultz won the women's 200 IM in 2:16.77, edging Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson's second-place 2:16.83. Melanie Dodds wound up third in 2:17.10. Jordan Hartney claimed the men's 200 IM in 2:03.04, while Lyam Dias touched second in 2:03.48. Ganesh Pedurand picked up third in 2:03.73.

Sandrine Mainville topped the women's 50 free in 25.58, while Anna Santamans took second in 25.76. Caroline Lapierre-Lemire and Jennifer Beckberger tied for third with matching 25.82s. Nosy Pelagie hit the wall in 22.69 to win the men's 50 free. Romain Magula (23.00) and Tom Miller (23.16) finished second and third.

Tera Van Beilen won the women's 200 breast in 2:29.67, while Ashley McGregor finished second in 2:29.91. Hanna Pierse grabbed third in 2:30.08. Ashton Baumann clocked a 2:15.72 for the men's 200 breast title. Warren Barnes (2:16.18) and Richard Funk (2:17.57) completed the podium.

Eric Hedlin earned the men's 1500 free crown in 15:26.14. Alec Page took second in 15:31.70, while Arturo Perez Vertti placed third in 15:32.18. Bridget Coley clinched the women's 800 free in 8:48.15. Sherry Liu (8:51.85) and Katie Caldwell (8:53.81) placed second and third.
