USA Swimming Sectionals, Cleveland: Laura Lindsay Downs Meet Record

CLEVELAND, Ohio, July 23. THE third day of long course meter racing at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Cleveland featured a meet record falling by the wayside.

Canton City's Laura Lindsay crushed the meet record in the women's 100 breast with a winning time of 1:08.97. That swim cut nearly a second off the 1:09.88 set by Michelle McKeehan back in 2008. Cleveland Lancer's Danielle Margheret, 16, took second in 1:11.57, while Ohio State's Jacqueline Brousseau wound up third in 1:11.88. Lake Erie's Andrew Malone claimed the men's 100 breast crown in 1:04.40. Greater Toledo's Daniel Macdonald finished second in 1:05.11, while Euclid Marlin Derek Hren, 16, completed the podium in 1:05.65.

Pointe's Gabrielle DeLoof, 15, won the women's 100 back in 1:02.78, while Ohio State's Kelsey Moran finished second in 1:02.82. Cincinnati Marlin Sarah Tanner completed the top three in 1:04.26. Ohio State's Andrew Elliott captured the men's 100 back in 56.99. Spartan's Jacob Jarzen touched second in 57.57, while Ohio State's Markus Sievers picked up third in 58.12.

Greater Toledo's Rachel Johnson claimed the women's 400 free in 4:19.04. Ohio State's Kelly Baird picked up second in 4:21.58, while Ohio State's Alexandra Norris placed third in 4:23.85. Ohio State's Alex Miller snared the men's 400 free title in 4:01.22. Lake Erie's Michael Gaudiani earned second in 4:02.97, while Ohio State's Andrew Keily garnered third in 4:06.48.

Ohio State's Shannon Draves topped the women's 200 fly in 2:14.97. Lake Erie's Sarah Koucheki, 16, took second in 2:15.41, while Firestone Akron's Katelyn Miller, 16, rounded out the top three in 2:15.50. Spartan's Bryan Williams clocked a 2:04.09 to win the men's 200 fly. Greater Toledo's Michael Disalle placed second in 2:06.64, while Great Lakes' Aaron Moyer finished third in 2:07.49.
