Canadian Summer Open Championships: First Night Complete

POINTE-CLAIRE, Canada, July 21. THE first evening of long course meter open competition is complete at the Canadian Summer Open Championships.

Noemie Thomas claimed the women's 50 fly title in 26.94, while Sandrine Mainville (27.07) and Anna Santamans (27.35) completed the top three. Jakob Andkjaer touched first in the men's 50 fly with a 24.20. Kelly Aspinall finished second in 24.28, while Romain Magula earned third in 24.33.

Amanda Reason snatched the women's 200 free crown in 2:00.95, while Heather Maclean took second in 2:01.18. Lindsay Delmar rounded out the podium with a 2:01.45. Hassaan Abdel-Khalik finished first in the men's 200 free with a 1:50.93. Denmark's Pedersen took second in 1:51.17, while Medhy Metella wound up third in 1:51.22.

Dominique Bouchard touched out Rachel Goh, 1:01.64 to 1:01.87, for the women's 100 back title. Hilary Caldwell placed third in 1:01.93. Mathias Gydesen cruised to victory in the men's 100 back with a 54.97. Dorian Gandin (56.30) and Alexis Cabrol (56.44) placed second and third.

Brenna Maclean edged Erin Miller, 2:12.27 to 2:12.34, in the women's 200 fly. MacKenzie Downing snared third in 2:14.02. Jordan Coelho dominated the men's 200 fly in 1:57.45, while Zack Chetrat took second in 2:00.03. David Sharpe placed third in 2:01.06.

Tabitha Baumann won the women's 1500 free in 16:48.54, while Sherry Liu earned second in 16:53.71. Beatrice Pineau picked up third in 17:03.40. Lucas Kanieski captured the men's 800 free in 8:07.41. Williams Brothers (8:08.36) and Eric Hedlin (8:09.93) completed the podium.
