PHOENIX, Arizona, July 14. THE ESPY Awards were handed out last night in Los Angeles, with some of the best athletes in the US attending. Among those in the audience was winner Mallory Weggemann, who received the award for Best Female Athlete with a Disability.

If you're a follower of Paralympic swimming, you know what Weggemann did at the 2010 IPC world championships, winning eight gold medals and a silver while breaking nine world records. Some people have called the feat Phelpsian. We did an interview with Weggemann on "The Morning Swim Show" before the ESPYs to talk about world championships, and you can find the interview by going to swimmingworld.tv.

Weggemann had a strong field of competition in her category, including Paratriathlete Melissa Stockwell, who we also interviewed on "The Morning Swim Show." Katinka Hosszu of USC was a nominee in the Best Female College Athlete category after winning three events at the NCAA championships and becoming the second woman under four minutes in 400-yard individual medley. Hosszu will be seen in the pool in just a couple of weeks at the world championships.
