Texas Senior Circuit, Austin: Brendan Hansen Continues on Comeback Trail

AUSTIN, Texas, July 8. THE first full evening of championship action took place at the Texas Senior Circuit meet hosted in Austin. The meet is taking place in long course meter format.

Still on the comeback trail, Longhorn Olympian Brendan Hansen cruised to victory in the men's 200 breast with a 2:16.28. He basically swam the event alone, as he was ahead of the pack by two seconds at the halfway mark with a 1:03.79. Longhorn training partners Eric Friedland (2:18.60) and Christian Schurrr (2:20.63) finished second and third.

Laura Sogar topped Grace Kittle, 2:34.03 to 2:34.39, in the women's 200 breast. CRSC's Catherine Wagner picked up third in 2:36.95.

Aggie's Rita Medrano captured the women's 200 fly in 2:15.15, while Sara Haley placed second in 2:15.71. Leah Gingrich turned in a third-place 2:15.91. Woody Joye touched in 2:02.89 for the men's 200 fly title. Patrick Murphy took second in 2:03.02, while The Woodlands' Jonathan DeBaugh posted a third-place 2:05.26.

In the sprint frees, Amanda Kendall won the women's 50 free in 25.84. Caitlin Geary took second in 26.26, while Longhorn's Bethany Adams finished third in 26.29. Longhorn's Garrett Weber-Gale claimed the men's 50 free in 22.71. CFSC's Charlie Moore finished second in 23.51, while Longhorn's Dax Hill clocked a 23.66 to take third.

Coming off an 800 free victory on night one, KATY's Cameron McHugh, 15, topped the women's 400 free in 4:19.93. The Woodlands' Kelsey Leneave finished second in 4:20.46, while FAST's Julia Anderson earned third in 4:21.38. Similar to McHugh, The Woodlands' Michael McBroom added the men's 400 free title (3:54.28) to his win in the 800 free from last night. Longhorn's Jackson Wilcox took second in 3:59.05, while Nick D'Innocenzo wound up third in 4:02.56.

On the first night of swimming, McHugh won the women's 800 free in 8:51.82, while First Colony's Jordan Hancock, 16, took second in 8:53.45. Aggie's Cammile Adams finished third in 8:57.50. McBroom claimed the men's 800 free in 7:59.06. Nadadores' Ted Singley earned second in 8:21.80, while Craig Hamilton placed third in 8:24.03.
