Polish Long Course Nationals: Radoslaw Kawecki, Pawel Korzeniowski Post Top Five Times

OSTROWIEC SWIETOKRZYSKI, Poland, May 19. THE Polish Long Course Nationals opened with a fast start as a pair of top five world ranked times went up on the scoreboard.

Radoslaw Kawecki snatched fourth in the world rankings with a victorious effort of 1:56.90 in the men's 200 back. Ryosuke Irie (1:54.08), Zhang Fenglin (1:56.34) and Tyler Clary (1:56.61) are the only other men under 1:57 so far this year. James Goddard (1:57.08) had been the fastest European heading into this meet. Mateusz Wysoczynski (2:02.90) and Krzysztof Morawski (2:04.27) took second and third.

Pawel Korzeniowski jumped to fifth in the world rankings in the men's 200 fly with a triumphant time of 1:55.64. Only Takeshi Matsuda (1:54.12), Ryusuke Sakata (1:55.11), Kaio Almeida (1:55.22) and Michael Phelps (1:55.34) have been faster. Korzeniowski trumped Bence Biczo (1:55.96) as the fastest European so far this year. Marcin Cieslak placed second in 1:58.36, while Mateusz Kierzkowski took third in 2:00.42.

Konrad Czerniak improved to ninth in the world rankings with a 22.11 to win the men's 50 free. Filip Wypych finished second in 22.51, while Lukasz Gasior earned third in 22.74.

Otylia Jedrzejczak moved into an 18th-ranked tie in the women's 200 fly with a 2:09.34. She matched the 2:09.34 clocked by Zhu Jiani in April. Mirela Olczak finished second in 2:10.30, while Pauline Sikora rounded out the top three in 2:11.47.

Alicja Tchorz picked up a top 25 ranking in the women's 200 back with a winning 2:10.63. Aleksandra Putra grabbed second in 2:12.56, while Klaudia Nazieblo pocketed third in 2:14.40.

Aleksandra Urbanczyk captured the women's 50 free in 25.86, while Anna Dowgiert took second in 25.99. Katarzyna Wilk completed the podium with a third-place 26.17.

Natalia Charlos topped the women's 1500 free in 16:55.94. Joanna Zachoszcz took second in 17:04.65, while Manuela Wikiel earned third in 17:24.83. Stanczyk Prezemyslaw won the men's 800 free in 8:02.76, while Karol Zaczynski touched second in 8:04.71. Krzyszstof Pielowski placed third in 8:06.47.

Otylia Jedrzejczak, Katazyna Ptasinska, Joanna Golebiowska and Karolina Szczepaniak won the women's 800 free relay in 8:22.73. Filip Bujoczek, Mateusz Slawinski, Michal Szuba and Wojciech Szamotulski topped the men's 800 free relay in 7:30.21.
