Bottom Named Associate Head Swim Coach at Cal -- July 18, 1997

Former U.S. Olympian Mike Bottom, an assistant swim coach and a three-time NCAA champion at USC, has been named associate head swim coach at the University of California-Berkeley. "It is really exciting to have someone like Mike coming to coach at the University of California," said Nort Thornton, head coach. "The team is excited and I'm excited. It is a great plus for our program and a loss for USC. Mike brings with him a lot of good ideas and enthusiasm. Both places he has coached, USC and Auburn, have had great success."
