Brazil Long Course Championships: Henrique Rodrigues Posts Strong 200 IM Time

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, April 22. THE third day of swimming at the Brazil World Championship Trials featured at least one strong swim in Rio.

Henrique Rodrigues improved to fourth in the world rankings with a 1:59.02 to win the men's 200 IM. Only Michael Phelps (1:56.88), James Goddard (1:58.22) and Joseph Roebuck (1:58.28) have been faster this year. Diogo Yabe grabbed second in 2:01.99, while Gabriel Ogawa rounded out the podium in 2:06.98.

Fabiola Molina moved into the top 25 in the women's 100 back with a 1:00.89, while Natalia Diniz finished a distant second in 1:04.57. Laura Garcia wound up third in 1:04.93. Leonardo De Deus touched out Guilherme Guido, 55.78 to 55.80, for the men's 100 back win. Leonardo Alves Santos finished third in 56.09.

Ana Carolina Santos won the women's 400 free in 4:27.16, while Camila Zattar took second in 4:34.02. Patricia Santa Fe finished third in 4:36.77. Lucas Kanieski followed with a 3:55.20 for the win in the men's 400 free. Diogo Carvalho (3:57.47) and Juan Pereyra (3:59.34) completed the top three.

Joanna Maranhao snagged the women's 200 IM in 2:18.45, while Nadia Vieira took second in 2:19.11. Thamy Ventorin placed third in 2:22.07.
