Russian Long Course Championships: Alexander Triznov Posts Strong Time to Start Meet

MOSCOW, Russia, April 18. THE Russian Long Course Championships kicked off with several world-ranked times, including an effort just outside the top five in the men's 50 breast.

Alexander Triznov raced to victory in the men's 50 breast with a 27.74 to 27.91 triumph over Roman Sludnov. Triznov improved to sixth in the world rankings with the swim, while Sludnov nearly cracked the top 10. Stanislav Lakhtyukhov placed third in 28.15.

Nikita Lobintsev moved to 14th in the world rankings in the men's 400 free with a 3:49.60. Nikolay Bulakhov placed second in 3:52.31, while Alexander Shimin earned third in 3:54.42.

Elena Sokolova topped the women's 400 free in 4:12.05, while Amanova Ranohon took second in 4:18.97. Anna Guseva finished third in 4:19.83. Yana Martynova captured the women's 400 IM victory in 4:43.24, while Anastasia Ivanenko (4:46.71) and Irina Nazarova (4:52.05) completed the top three.

In semifinal action, Veronika Popova led the way in the women's 100 free with a 55.32, while Nikita Konovalov paced the men's 100 fly in 53.50. Irina Bespalova turned in a 2:16.37 for the top seed in the women's 200 fly.

Stanislav Donets posted a 54.23 for the top time out of the men's 100 back, and moved to 16th in the world rankings.
