Italian Long Course Nationals: Federico Turrini, Martina Rita Caramignoli Clock Top 10 Times

RICCIONE, Italy, April 14. THE Italian Long Course Nationals kept rolling through a second day of action in Riccione.

Federico Turrini cruised to a win in the men's 400 IM with a seventh-ranked time of 4:14.18. Luca Marin hit the wall second in 4:17.04, while Matteo Pelizzari placed third in 4:21.68.

Martina Rita Caramignoli clocked a 16:19.78 to win the women's 1500 free and move into the top 10 in the world rankings. Rachele Bruni took second in 16:22.37, while Martina Grimaldi finished third in 16:33.54.

Mattia Pesce improved to 13th in the world rankings in the men's 100 breast with a winning 1:01.10. Flavio Bizzarri earned second in 1:01.64, while Andrea Toniato picked up third in 1:02.01.

Chiara Boggiatto moved into the top 20 in the world rankings in the women's 200 breast with a 2:26.63 for the win. Lisa Fissneider placed second in 2:27.58, while Giulia De Ascentis wound up third in 2:29.42.

Federica Pellegrini demonstrated her range as a typical middle distance freestyle with a victory in the 100 free by way of a 54.98. Chiara Masini Luccetti finished second in 55.89, while Renata Fabiola Spagnolo pocketed third in 56.01.

Elena Gemo raced to victory in the women's 50 fly with a 26.84, while Elena Di Liddo touched second in 27.06. Ilaria Bianchi earned third in 27.22. Lorenzo Benatti followed in the men's 100 fly with a winning 53.58. Paolo Facchinelli took second in 53.76, while Stefano Iacobone placed third in 53.93.

In relay action, Andrea Mitchell D'Arrigo, Michele Santucci, Filippo Barbacini and Filippo Magnini won the men's 800 free relay in 7:17.10.
