City of Milan Invitational: Zsuzsanna Jakabos Doubles Up

MILAN, Italy, March 11. THE first night of the City of Milan Invitational meet featured a world-class double by Zsuzsanna Jakabos. The first two days of swimming are taking place in long course, while Sunday will finish in short course according to the meet program.

Jakabos led the way in the women's 200 free with a 1:58.54 to move to seventh in the world rankings, while Agnes Mutina took second in 1:59.35. Evelyn Verrasto closed out the top three in 2:01.62. Jakabos doubled up with a 2:09.80 to win the women's 200 fly. That performance pushed her to fifth in the world rankings. Caterina Giacchetti took second in 2:10.12 to move to eighth in the world, while Alessia Polieri earned third in 2:12.79.

Filippo Magnini and Cesare Sciocchetti showed off in the men's 200 free with a first-place tie after matching 1:50.52s. Gianluca Maglia picked up third-place honors in 1:50.60. Niccolo Beni claimed the men's 200 fly in 1:59.63, while Michele Cosentino (2:00.50) and Matteo Pelizzari (2:01.42) rounded out the top three.

Samuel Pizzetti picked up the men's 800 free title in 8:00.40 for third in the overall world rankings, while Rocco Potenza placed second in 8:02.67. Federico Colbertaldo touched third in 8:06.50.

Nadia Higl topped the women's 200 breast in 2:29.03 with Carlotta Toni finishing second in 2:32.35. Ilaria Scarcella wound up third in 2:32.88. Flavio Bizzarri hit the wall in 2:15.48 for the win in the men's 200 breast. Claudio Fossi (2:17.88) and Edoardo Giorgetti (2:17.96) completed the top three.

Federica Meloni stopped the clock in 2:16.98 to grab the women's 200 back title. Roberta Ioppi took second in 2:17.68, while Verrasto picked up her second top-three of the evening with a 2:18.30. Sebastiano Ranfagni snatched the men's 200 back crown in 2:00.21, while Felix Wolf placed second in 2:01.47. Damiano Lestingi finished third in 2:01.73.
