British Long Course National Championships: Michael Rock, Rebecca Adlington Turn in Winning Times

MANCHESTER, England, March 8. THE British Long Course National Championships pushed through the fourth day of action with some fairly highly ranked times going up on the scoreboard.

Michael Rock touched out Joseph Roebuck, 1:56.31 to 1:56.67, in the men's 200 fly. Rock missed his third-ranked season-best time of 1:56.26 set earlier in the meet, while Roebuck jumped to fourth in the world rankings. Roberto Pavoni grabbed third overall tonight in 1:58.03 to move to ninth in the world rankings.

Rebecca Adlington captured the women's 200 free title in 1:58.90 to move up to 12th in the world rankings. Jazmin Carlin placed a close second in 1:59.03, while Keri-Anne Payne finished third in 1:59.42. Tom Allen captured the men's 800 freestyle with a time of 8:00.25, while Thomas Sunter earned second in 8:09.63. Daniel Cocking wound up third in 8:14.70.

Douglas Scott raced to victory in the men's 50 breast with a 28.74, while Russell Smith took second in 28.81. Craig Elliot earned third-place honors with a 28.95.

In semifinal action, Adam Brown moved into the top 15 in the world rankings with a 49.72 in the men's 100 free. Grant Turner also went sub-50 with a second-seeded 49.95, while Liam Tancock qualified third in 50.06. Georgia Davies topped the women's 50 back semis in 28.77 to move into the top 10, while Emma Saunders qualified second in 28.89. Lauren Quigley snagged the third seed with a 29.34.

Ellen Gandy, who already owns the top time in the world with a 2:05.90 from last month, cruised in semis with a top-seeded time of 2:07.76. Jemma Lowe qualified second in 2:08.82, while Jessica Dickons took third in 2:11.93. James Goddard followed in the men's 200 IM with a top-seeded time of 2:01.20, while Roebuck doubled tonight with a second-seeded 2:01.47. Both swims are among the top 10 in the world rankings. Xavier Mohammed qualified third in 2:02.05.

In multi-disability events, Ellie Simmonds was listed first in the women's 100 free with a 1:19.01, while David Roberts was listed first in the men's 100 free with a 1:03.56.
