Industry News: TYR Signs Josh Schneider

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, January 4. TYR is proud to announce a three-year sponsorship agreement with NCAA Champion and 2x Short Course World medalist Josh Schneider. TYR is excited to sign an athlete of Schneider's caliber and talent, who's quick and steady rise up the World rankings has touted him a 2012 Olympic hopeful.

Schneider's recent success at the 2010 Short Course World Championships in Dubai included winning the Bronze medal in the 50m freestyle, and breaking the American record with his time of 20.88. In addition, Schneider garnered a gold medal in the 4x100m medley relay for his participation in the heats. Schneider currently swims for SwimMAC Carolina, the same club as current TYR athlete Nick Thoman.

"I am grateful that TYR has faith in me and my abilities now and for the future. I am certain that TYR is a perfect fit because of their superior products and most importantly their friendly staff." says Josh Schneider, NCAA Champion and 2x Short Course World Medalist.

A standout collegiate competitor for the University of Cincinnati, Schneider is the reigning NCAA Champion in the 50y freestyle. Schneider is also a 5x All-America selection, 7x Big East Conference Champion, 2x Big East Swimmer of the Year, and the holder of five school records (50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 50 fly, 100 fly). With his myriad of accomplishments, it is surprising to note that Schneider did not even start swimming full time until he got to college.

"Josh is one of those crucial athletes that simply wills a way to excel at the perfect moment. Starting as late as he did in the sport, it's nothing short of amazing the trajectory he's had so far. Josh is a joy to represent our country, our sport, and TYR. Our faith in his future is as unbridled as his budding talent." Says Matt Zimmer, Team Sales and Promotions Director for TYR.

Other TYR athlete sponsorships include 2x Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Grevers, World Record Holder Nick Thoman, FINA World Champion Ariana Kukors, 2x Olympic Silver Medalist Amanda Weir, and Olympic Gold Medalist Megan Jendrick.
