New Hampshire vs. Central Connecticut State

NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut, November 6. LED by a pair of record-breaking performances from Amy Perrault (Kirkland Lake, Ontario) and Jessica Little (Barrie, Ontario), the University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team placed first in 12 events, earning a 190-110 victory over Central Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at Jack Suydam Natatorium.

Perrault kicked off the afternoon in stellar fashion, breaking a pool record in her lead off swim in the 400-yard medley relay (27.31), helping propel a team that consisted of Allison Nahin (Hartland, Wisc.), Shelli Reed (Hollister, Calif.) and Katie Keefer (Waynesboro, Pa.) to a first place finish with a time of three minutes and 58.20 seconds.

Little was equally impressive, breaking a pool record in the 200-yard breast, timing in at 2:21.03. Nahin chipped in with a second place finish in the event (2:27.82). Little also claimed first place in the 200-yard IM, touching down at 2:10.48.

Following UNH's standout performance in the 400-yard medley relay, Lauren McCandless (Macungie, Pa.) and Kiersten Wollenzien (Holland Landing, Ontario) would keep up the pace, notching first and second place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle with times of 10:26.95 and 10:36.63, respectively.

The Blue Devils would strike back claiming first place in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, but the 'Cats wouldn't take long to respond, as Nahin and Lizzy Magnavita (South Glastonbury, Conn.) claimed first and second place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Nahin clocked in at 1:06.84, while Magnavita finished in 1:08.22.

The Wildcats wouldn't let up as McCandless notched another first place finish, taking the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.64.

Reed would help UNH stay on track, claiming a pair of first place finishes in the 50-yard free (24.81) and 100-yard free (52.90), keeping the Wildcats ahead midway through the action.

After helping give New Hampshire the early edge, Perrault was at it again later in the day, tallying a pair of first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly. She finished the 200-yard back with a time of 2:05.86, while finishing the 100-yard butterfly in 58.11.

Ellen Pelletier (West Hartford, Conn.) also gave the 'Cats a lift, sweeping the diving events of the day. She took first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 229.57, while also claiming first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 217.19.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. when they return home to take on the University of Rhode Island at Swasey Pool.
